Class Descriptions
Pre School Adventure Program
Pre school is similar to the mommy or daddy
and me, however, the child is own their own and
will have the ability to do more skill based
gymnastics. Children will learn forward and
backward rolls, cartwheels, jumping, basic bar,
trampoline, beam and vaulting skills as well as
other gross motor skills. We also work on
taking turns, social skills and incorporate basic
Pre-school learning with numbers, letters and
colors. You will often find a special theme
week, such as beach, holiday, circus, space,
under the sea...just to name a few!
Mommy or Daddy & Me!
Mommy or Daddy helps their child learn
gross motor skills, social interaction
and parents can have their own social
time with parents of other children!
Each class your child will work on motor
coordination with circle time that include
songs and activities modified to
accommodate the age and skill level of
2 year olds!

Recreation
Children come to gymnastics one time per week for an hour and 15
minutes. We keep the classes fun and teach basic skills. The objective is
to have fun and become more physically active through basic gymnastics
skill building. We help each child set goals and work on skills at their level.
Recreational gymnastics will not produce a polished gymnast, but they will
gain skills and stay fit! We offer beginner and intermediate classes. With
only 1hour and 10 minutes per week it is realistic to expect your child to
accomplish basic skills and some intermediate skills. These skills won’t
happen over night! It will take time. In addition to gymnastics skill building,
you should also expect see your child having fun doing some socializing and
enjoying gymnastics related games such as jump roping, parachutes,
dancing/aerobic activities, especially in the 6- 8 year old range. What most
people don’t understand about gymnastics is how much work (time,
conditioning, flexibility, dance) it takes to be an accomplished gymnast.
Those who are, have been training for years! If you and your child have a
goal to acquire a higher level of gymnastics skills more quickly, you may
want to consider another program.
Semi-competitive team
This program is for girls who love gymnastics and
want to learn skills more quickly than a recreation
program allows. These girls come to one or two, 2
hour classes per week and work on skills for all
events. We have a beginner group and an
intermediate group. The skills each girl learns may
vary slightly depending on abilities and physical
aptitude for the sport. The goal is to participate in
small, informal "in-house" competitions. After they
build some skills on all events, they will learn
routines and must compete in 2 of 3 in-house
competitions per year. Girls in this program will
work on some strength and conditioning skills as
well as flexibility and form.
To be on Semi team, you must commit
to participate in 2 of 3 in-house meets in
the year and be a gymnast who wants to
be in all 3 sessions. (fall, winter and
spring)

Stars
The stars are girls who have participated in Pre-school or
Rec/kindergarten gymnastics programs. The class is designed
to teach gymnastics skills along with increasing strength and
flexibility. We use fun activities to work on conditioning so that
learning is still fun, but more deliberate than a recreation class.
The stars will be in gymnastics class 1 time per week for 1 1/2
(white stars) or 1 hour 45 minutes (purple stars). As the child
progresses through this class, we begin to understand what
direction may be appropriate. We look for talent level, progress,
focus, ability to follow directions, willingness to work and learn
new skills and desire to do gymnastics. Over time girls from the
class will be recommended for USAG team, some for next level
of stars, semi-competitive team and some for Prep-opt team.
(Read on for descriptions of those programs.) There may also
be situations where the gymnast wants go to a recreational
gymnastics class. Each outcome is perfectly okay! This is a
program created to figure all of that out earlier rather than later!
(Sad, but true….If a girl wants to really do high competitive
gymnastics and doesn't start at age 5 -7, it gets really difficult!)
To be on purple stars, you must commit to
participate in 2 of 3 in-house meets in the year
and be a gymnast who wants to be in all 3
sessions. (fall, winter and spring)

Prep-opt Team
Gymnast will compete in prep-op meets
outside of the gym, 6 - 7 times per year.
This program is for USAG JO gymnasts
who are burnt out, talented gymnasts who
want to do other sports and young
gymnasts who find USAG too hard or time
consuming. Girls in this program must
have required skills to participate.
This program is by invite only. However, if
you feel you fit the qualifications, please
inquire! A discussion and evaluation will
be required.
USAG JO Team Gymnastics
( & developmental)
Phantom Gymnastics has a highly competitive
JO team. Girls must be recommended for
competitive gymnastics by having participated
in one of our other programs. The hours are
challenging and long but it is just what they
want!
If you are currently on a team and are
interested in the type of program we offer,
please contact us directly. We have more
information, but require a discussion first.
Tumbling
individuals who are interested in
Tumbling only. The tumbling class will
use the tumble track and trampoline in
addition to the spring floor. Some
experience is necessary. (we
recommend a gymnastics class first
and then move to the tumbling
specialty.) There is usually an
alternative sport that the individual is
learning tumbling for such as
cheerleading.
